Project method in primary school physical education process

The study considers the objective, forms and content of the project method in the primary school physical education process and gives project samples for the school Physical Education discipline in application to primary pupils. Objective of the study was to apply a questionnaire survey to rate benefits of the project method in the primary school physical education process. Subject to the study were the 3-4-graders (n=35) of Morozko School, a private general education establishment. The project method has been tested for one year under the elective part of the school Physical Education discipline. The children’s progress was rated by the questionnaire survey and sociometrics prior to, in the middle and at the end of the experimental year.
The study data and analyses were indicative of the project method benefits for the primary physical education in the general education school system as verified by the positive environmental changes; increased interest of the pupils to the physical education; growth in appreciation of the role of physical training and sports; improvements in the values system in relation to the school Physical Education discipline; and growth in the communicative skills of the primary pupils.
