Structure and content of training loads in elite triathletes in the annual cycle of preparation for the world championship

Abstract

Objective of the study is to identify the features of the structure and content of training loads in elite triathletes in the annual cycle of preparation for the world championship. Methods and structure of the study. 5 male triathletes, members of the Russian national team, took part in the scientific work. 304 training sessions were subjected to analysis. The average time of daily training loads, the percentage distribution of load volumes between disciplines, the proportion of time of exercises performed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th-5th power zones, as well as the characteristics of competitive activity, were analysed. Results and conclusions. The results showed that the dynamics of the total volume of loads of elite triathletes had an undulating character. The distribution of load by power zones indicated a predominantly aerobic orientation of the exercises with local intensification of intensive influences in individual blocks. The dynamics of volume by preparation segments was characterised by a consistent change of leading means. The analysis of competitive activity showed an insufficiently high level of individual components of special preparedness and the necessity of further improving the structure and content of the training process.
