A retrospective analysis of the theoretical and methodological preparedness of school pupils participating in the regional stage of the AllRussian Physical Education Olympiad

Abstract

Objective of the study is to analyse the results of the theoretical and methodological assessment at the regional stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad in the Tyumen Region for the period from 2021 to 2025. Methods and structure of the study. During this period, 1,012 school pupils in years 9-11 took part in the regional stage, of whom 48.7% (493) were young women and 51.2% (519) were young men. Results and conclusions. The average mark in the theoretical and methodological test during this period did not exceed 6.9 out of a possible 20 for girls and 6.7 for boys. It was noted that participants coped most successfully with closed-ended questions and matching tasks. However, participants generally found open-ended questions, tasks requiring knowledge of terminology in the description of physical exercises, and problem-solving tasks the most difficult. The preparation of school pupils for participation in the All-Russian Olympiad should be regular, well-planned and include the study of topics such as: the cultural and historical foundations of physical culture and sports, the fundamentals of the theory and methodology of teaching motor skills, the development of physical qualities, the rules of competition in various sports, and the concepts of equipment in the field of physical culture and sports.
