Abstract

Objective of the study is to identify the nature of training interventions depending on the biorhythmic characteristics of qualified female short- and middle-distance runners. Methods and structure of the study. The study involved female track and field female athletes (n=24) aged 16-18 who specialise in short-distance (n=12) and middle-distance (n=12) running and hold a first-class sports qualification-candidate for Master of Sport. An analysis was conducted of the individual duration of the biological cycle, and a comparison was made of test data on speed and speed-strength abilities during various phases of the ovarian-menstrual cycle (OMC) over the course of a one-year training macrocycle. Results and conclusions. It has been established that the dynamics of speed-strength performance indicators in female runners vary significantly depending on the OMC phase and the athletes' specialisation. Individual differences in the duration of their biological cycle have been identified, which determines the number of days with high performance capacity throughout the annual training cycle. Three types of female athletes' responses to OMC phases have been identified, differing in the degree of reduced performance during unfavourable phases. The need to individualise the training process, taking into account OMC phases and the runners' specialisation, has been demonstrated.
