Objective of the study was to analyze cognitive performance variation with age in long-term orienteering sport trainings.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was run in 2018-2021 at the OS Centers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Pskov, Orel, Bryansk, Smolensk, Kursk, Tula, Ryazan and Kaliningrad cities; with the cognitive performance variation with age profiled by the Y.S. Voronov tests (2018), including visual-imaging, operative memorizing and thinking abilities tests.
Results and conclusion. The age-specific cognitive performance analysis in the long-term training process found peaks in the visual-imaging and operative memorizing abilities upon completion of the beginner training and transition to the sports excellence stage. This trend appears to be due to the training service design that is particularly demanding to the individual intellectual skills at these training stages for the training progress and competitive success.
