Weightlifting training model for strength building in Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Abstract
Objective of the study was to analyze benefits of a new weightlifting training model for strength building in modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Methods and structure of the study. We theoretically analyzed and summarized the relevant study reports and practically tested benefits of the new weightlifting training model.
Results and conclusion. The strength tests of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sample and study reports showed that the competitive success largely depends on the individual physical strength when the opponents are virtually even in the technical and mental fitness aspects. The new weightlifting training model was designed to facilitate competitive progress of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors lagging behind their rivals in physical strength. It should be mentioned that weightlifting training exercises need to be managed in modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on a prudently individualized basis, otherwise they may slow down responses and speeds; and this is the reason why the new weightlifting training model offers a limited set of exercises focused on the key muscle groups critical for success. It should be also emphasized that the weightlifting training set should be efficiently customized to the individual fighting skills and styles.
