Abstract
Objective of the study was to analyze benefits of amateur sports for physical development of college students.
Methods and structure of the study. We sampled the Ural State Economic University students (n=829) and split them up into sporting (n=123) and unsporting/ physically inactive (n=706) groups.
Results and conclusion. The study found significant intergroup gender-unspecific differences in every physical development test, with the differences growing with age (from p<0.1 to p<0.01). The sporting group was tested higher than the unsporting group on every test scale – apparently due to the amateur sports trainings with the high physical activity and special health benefits. The group functionality tests and comparative analyses make it possible to customize the physical trainings with a special attention to the training-facilitated bodily changes to timely individualize the trainings service for the health- and progress-sensitive academic physical education service.

Keywords: college students, physical development level, functionality test rates, athletes, physiological status.
