Abstract
Objective of the study was to test and analyze benefits of a Jiu-Jitsu training model for the 10-11-year-olds’ physical fitness.
Methods and structure of the study. We sampled for the Jiu-Jitsu model testing experiment the 10-11 years old boys at Physical Training Club for the Experimental Group (n=12) that was trained using mostly the 45-60-min Jiu-Jitsu practices three times a week. The peer Control Group (n=12) was sampled at School No. 2 in Krasnodar for traditional 40-min physical fitness trainings three times a week. The group progresses were rated by the following standard physical fitness tests: floor sitting leans forward; standing high jump; standing long jump; pull-ups; floor sitting 1kg stuffed ball throw; push-ups; and sit-ups with the bent knees tests.
Results and conclusion. The Jiu-Jitsu model was tested beneficial for physical fitness as verified by the pre- versus post-experimental physical fitness tests of the Experimental versus Control Group – that give us the grounds to recommend the Jiu-Jitsu and other martial arts training elements for application in the age-specific physical trainings.
