Objective of the study was to disclose the main methods of evaluation of the functional state of junior athletes engaged in sledge hockey.
Methods and structure of the study. In developing the methods of evaluation of the functional state of those engaged in sledge hockey, account should be taken of the structure of athletes' physical fitness, level of development of skills and motor qualities, as well as the fact that the tests to monitor these indicators are characterized by certain features typical for this type of Paralympic sports. At the same time, the selection of medical and educational tests must always meet the objectives of the stage-by-stage monitoring of the athlete’s characteristics and motor qualities.
Results and conclusions. All load tests in sledge hockey are controlled by the Fisrtbeat (or similar) system, which enables to monitor the athletes' cardiovascular activity based on the real-time analysis of heart rate variability under special loads.
The battery of studies conducted according to the methodology of V.A. Shioshvili included: ergometric testing of the repulsion actions (profiling motor actions) taken by the sledge hockey players; testing on ice (20 m sprint in a straight line without a puck, 20 m zigzag sprint without a puck, 20 m zigzag sprint with a puck, speed-strength endurance testing).
The authors conclude that the sledge hockey players' functional state must correspond to the volume and intensity of the constantly increasing physical loads performed during the training process and competitions.

Keywords: sledge hockey, functional state, monitoring.
