Objective of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the peculiarities of training of football referees in Russia and Iraq.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was designed to conduct a comparative analysis of the results of training of football referees in Russia (face-to-face) and Iraq (remotely). Sampled for the study were 10 individuals mastering various programs of football referee training. Five subjects had vocational education in the field of physical culture and sports and were acquiring extended education at the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk under the program of football referee training. Five more subjects were Iraqi citizens who did not have vocational education in the field of physical culture and sports but were mastering remotely a short-term program of initial training on the FIFA website, followed by the final testing.
Results of the study and conclusions. With regard to the theoretical and physical readiness at the time of completion of the educational program, both groups of students were found to have similar problems, namely: both Russian and Iraqi students need to improve their knowledge of refereeing techniques, their skills of analyzing situations they will have to face from the very beginning of professional activity in the role of a football referee, as well as improve the level of physical fitness. The football referee training requires reconsideration of the procedural and substantive aspects on all the research areas.
