Objective of the study was to develop and experimentally substantiate the methodology of physical training of junior schoolchildren on the basis of competitive ballroom dancing.
Methods and structure of the study. Sampled for the educational experiment were the 9-10 year-old schoolchildren (n=48). It was conducted at the premises of the Municipal Independent School "Foreign Language Gymnasium in Tchaikovsky Town" and lasted from September 2018 to May 2019. At the beginning of the experiment, two groups (CG and EG) were formed, 12 girls and 12 boys each. The schoolchildren were attributed to the main and preparatory health groups and had the same physical fitness level. The training sessions were conducted three times a week for 80 min as part of the extra-curricular overall physical conditioning course in line with the academic program. The CG subjects were trained using traditional physical education methods for junior schoolchildren, and those of the EG - using the training technology developed on the basis of competitive ballroom dancing.
Study results and conclusions. When comparing the physical fitness test rates, the trainees of the EG were found to have a significantly higher results in such control exercises as: "Standing long jump" - the average test result was 160 cm; the speed rate in the "Falling ruler test" at the end of the experiment was 11 cm, and the balancing ability rated by the "Romberg's test" - 44.34 s. In the EG, the physical fitness rates at the end of the experiment were significantly higher than those in the CG (p<0.05). The average physical fitness rate in the EG was 29 c.u., and in the CG - 24 c.u. As a result of the  experiment, the conclusion was made that the developed methodology of physical training of junior schoolchildren on the basis of competitive ballroom dancing has a positive effect on the level of development of aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, speed, coordination and speed-strength abilities.
