Objective of the study was to develop and prove the effectiveness of the methodology of development of the speed and speed-strength abilities with a predominant focus on the use of sport games and game exercises during the track and field activities in school sections.
Methods and structure of the study. Two groups of schoolchildren were formed - Experimental and Control Groups, 15 people each. In the Experimental Group, the training process was based on the development of the subjects' speed and speed-strength abilities with the focus on sports games (Table 3), and in the Control Group - on the development of basic physical qualities: strength, speed, and endurance.
Results and conclusions. Considering the effectiveness of the developed methodology of training of schoolchildren and, above all, the achieved level of development of overall physical fitness, it can be concluded that the educational experiment contributed to the achievement of the high level of development of speed and speed-strength abilities and significant increase in the strength level. There were statistically significant differences between the groups.
The training methodology aimed to improve the speed and speed-strength abilities in the 15-16-year-olds proved to be effective and can serve as a basis for their preparation for competitive activity.
