Background. The reinstated “Ready for Labour and Defence” (GTO) Complex is designed as an all-round national physical training system to facilitate mass sports, national physical culture and health improvement process, with Class I tests intended to motivate the preschool population for physical progress [1, 4]. To provide for the preschool population being duly trained for the GTO Complex tests, the preschool education system, sport groups and families need to be mobilised for the modern physical education programs including self-reliant family practices.

Objective of the study was to rate the preschoolers’ physical fitness by the obligatory GTO Complex Class I tests.

Methods and structure of the study. Subject to the educational process experiment were 6-7 year old children (n=407 including 220 boys and 287 girls) registered and qualified for the GTO Complex Class I tests via the оnline AS FSK GTO technology available at www.rosinwebc.ru [2]. Physical qualities of the subjects were rated by the GTO Complex Class I tests.

Study results and discussion. In the 30m sprint (speed rating) tests, 102 boys (49.5%) and 99 girls (56.6%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold Badge; 75 boys (35.3%) and 74 girls (35.4%) qualified for the GTO Class I Silver Badge; and 12 boys (6.0%) and 4 girls (2.3%) qualified for the GTO Class I Bronze Badge; whilst 31 boy (9.2%) and 10 girls (5.7%) failed the tests: see Figure 1.

In the lying pull-ups on a low bar (strength rating) tests, 58 (26.9%) and 77 boys (38.8%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold and Silver Badges, respectively; 43 (22.6%) and 73 girls (39.6%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold and Silver Badges, respectively; and 26 boys (6.9%) and 22 girls (11.4%) qualified for the GTO Class I Bronze Badge; whilst 52 boys (27.4%) and 50 girls (26.5%) failed the tests: see Figure 2.

Figure 2. GTO Class I endurance (1km mixed race) test data

In the endurance (1km mixed race) test, 100% of the subjects qualified for the GTO Class I Gold Badge.

In the flexibility rating (standing bends forward) test, 96 boys (43.3%) and 108 girls (58.6%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold Badge; and 124 boys (55.7%) and 79 girls (41.4%) qualified for the GTO Class I Silver Badge.

In the speed-strength tests, 63 boys (28.7%) and 45 girls (24.5%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold Badge; 74 boys (35.3%) and 85 girls (47.5%) qualified for the GTO Class I Silver Badge; and 25 boys (10.6%) and 17 girls (6.5%) qualified for the GTO Class I Bronze Badge; whilst 58 boys (25.4%) and 40 girls (21.8%) failed the tests: see Figure 3.

In the coordination (3x10m shuttle sprint) tests, 34 boys (12.5%) and 32 girls (20%) qualified for the GTO Class I Gold Badge; 52 boys (22.5%) and 38 girls (17.2%) qualified for the GTO Class I Silver Badge; and 72 boys (35.3%) and 61 girls (45.8%) qualified for the GTO Class I Bronze Badge: see Figure 4.

Conclusion. The tests showed the 6-7 year old Surgut city residents being poorly physically fit for the GTO Complex Class I tests, with particularly low strength and coordination fitness components of the overall physical fitness.
