At present time, the inclusion of curling mixed doubles in the Winter Olympics programme requires further systematization of the training process for teams of two players, determination of curlers' model performance parameters in this particular discipline and identifying significant differences with "classic" varieties of curling in the implementation of competitive actions aimed at winning game points.
The focus of competitive activity in mixed doubles is made on "slow" throws, most of which being enveloping. In mixed-doubles higher requirements are made to accuracy of entering remote reference point and a proper degree of stone rotation and acceleration during release. When training mixed doubles athletes it is necessary to focus more on training of complex types of both contact throws and draws, especially in case of players throwing the 1st and final stones in the end.
