Key words: heart rate response when answering at desk and by board, junior schoolchildren.
The aim of the research was to study heart rate response of primary schoolchildren when answering at the desk and by the board at mathematics lessons.
The studies of HR responses of children with different motor modes when answering at the desk and by the board revealed a number of peculiarities:
–  the HR responses of boys from the group of intensive motor activity when answering at the desk and by the board were almost the same and amounted to 27–29 bpm. HR recovered to the initial level mainly at the 2nd and 3rd min after finishing the answer;
–  the HR responses of girls from the group of intensive motor activity when answering at the desk and by the board were much lower than in other groups of children and amounted to 17,2 and 28,7 bpm (р<0,05) respectively. Moreover, girls of the group restored HR to the initial level much faster after finishing an answer;
– the HR responses of girls of the control group not doing physical culture and sport were much higher than in the group of intensive motor activity and were approximately 32–38 bpm (р<0,05).
– boys of the control group had the highest HR responses at oral answers.
Hence, changes in HR at oral answers and during HR recovery to the initial level after an answer depend on children's physical fitness level.
