Key words: physical culture, special medical department, distance sports support, motivation for regular physical culture and sport.
As of today, not all students from the special medical department are ready to fully implement the loads prescribed by the standard university curriculum. It is difficult for such students to fulfill the curriculum arranged within training regimes. This is due to the contradiction of standard tests to health status (the status and variety of diseases and physical fitness of a significant number of students is not taken into consideration).
Organization and methodology of the educational process with the university students of the special medical department has its own specifics. It provokes the necessity of improving the educational process of physical education in higher schools, developing and implementing new approaches to the technology of work with students attributed to a special medical department due to state of health, physical development and physical fitness, optimizing the means and methods of physical education of such kind of students, creating the sustainable motivation to a healthy lifestyle.
The purpose of the present study was the scientific rationale for the use of recreational physical culture in the form of distance sports support.
To improve the organization and methodology of conducting training sessions of the special medical department in Volgograd State University students were surveyed, to identify the use of means of recreational physical culture by students in the format of distance sports support.
The findings suggest that many students of Volgograd State University have a positive attitude to the use of means and methods of distance sports support in the recreational process, indicate the importance of their use in the classroom under a teacher's guidance and during individual physical exercises.
