Modern living conditions raise the demands to the training of specialists in any field of professional activity. The competency building approach, being implemented in the current higher education, involves the development of students' set of core competencies that define his successful social adaptation. As emphasized in the "Concept of modernization of Russian education", a developing society needs modern educated, moral, enterprising people, who can make responsible decisions in a situation of choice, be mobile, constructive professionals, able to work in a team. In order to realize this goal, it is necessary not only to modernize the content and technology of education, but above all to train a teacher who can deal with these complex socio-pedagogical problems. However, the study of the results of psycho-pedagogical and sociological research and analysis of the actual school practice show that teachers are not quite ready to meet these challenges.
The purpose of the present study was to form the sociopsychological competency of future physical education teachers.
