Key words: sports and fitness activities, competence of social interaction.

Relevance. Nowadays much attention is being paid to the development of sports and fitness activities, as the problem of health and physical development of the younger generation is getting particularly urgent. In this regard, there is an acute issue of training qualified personnel in the field of physical education.

The purpose of the study was to reveal the peculiarities of social interaction competence in future physical education teachers.

Results and discussion. Sports and fitness educational activity is defined as a special kind of social activity, intended to develop physical and personality traits of pupils, contributing to the formation of values of a healthy lifestyle, carried out using teaching methods and forms and means of physical education. This activity involves the interaction of its subjects: "pupil - pupil", "pupil - physical education teacher", "physical education teacher - parents", "physical education teacher - members of the administration of an educational organization", "physical education teacher and sports organization".

A physical education teacher, undoubtedly, plays a big role in the formation of interpersonal relationships in the area of sports and fitness activities. He/she must exemplify to the pupils not only the development of the body, motor activity and health, but also the skill to correctly communicate with pupils as well as be a mentor in sports activity, possess conflict resolution techniques and have a fostering influence on his/her charges. These requirements are stipulated in the current standard of the higher professional education: “A graduate qualified as a physical education teacher is ready to cooperate with colleagues, for team work and can find organizational and managing solutions in non-standard situations…” [4]. This means that, in addition to gaining special subject competences, training of a future education culture teacher should also include the competence of social interaction.

Revealing the essence of the social interaction competence, I.A. Zimnyaya indicates the subjects and the matter of the interactions “with the society, community, team, family, friends, partners, as well as conflicts and their resolution, cooperation, tolerance, respect and acceptance of Other race, nationality, religion, status, role, gender, and social mobility” [3, p. 24].

Social interaction in the context of vocational training of a future teacher is considered from several perspectives: 1) professional interaction with specialists from various social services; 2) functional and role-based interaction with the subjects of professional activity; 3) interpersonal interaction during collaboration [1, p. 24].

Let’s specify the essence of each of the indicated perspectives.

1. In the sports and fitness environment, social interaction occurs between an educator, pupils, and parents, as well as healthcare, educational, community, and sports organizations. The problems of pupils’ health improvement, development of moral values and patriotism are solved in the course of these interactions; in addition, information exchange occurs between subjects for coordinated joint efforts. The policy of professional interaction is geared towards raising pupils’ interest in sports and fitness activities as well as personal development of each pupil via an individual approach.

2. The functional and role-based interaction occurs at two levels of sports and fitness activities: 1) at the level of the general educational organizations, whose main objectives are, firstly, the improvement of pupils’ health and their harmonious physical development, and secondly, identifying the pupils’ inclination towards certain sports; 2) at the level of sports and fitness organizations, such as junior sports school, school of elite sports skills, specialized school of the Olympic Reserve and other organizations, whose main objective is achieving maximum results in sport. The subjects of these two levels interact through organizing sports events, defining administrative aspects of sports and fitness activities, and collaborative decision making.

3. Interpersonal interaction during team work occurs through interactions between a physical education teacher and pupils and conditions the following levels of: effectiveness of sports and fitness activities, pupils’ readiness for its implementation, building of status- and role-based relationships in a group (class, team), of display of positive and negative personality traits in students. The teacher’s social interaction competence consists in the effectiveness of his/her ability to solve social issues arising in real-life situations. To solve such problems one needs a set of skills formed on the basis of acquired knowledge and teaching and life experience. These skills include setting the goals of social interactions and their hierarchy; analysis of the social situation; choosing actions to benefit the pupil and the society; information search and exchange to create the optimal conditions for sports and fitness activities, increasing the use of technology in sports and fitness activities, resolution of conflicts between various subjects of sports and fitness activities; ensuring of mutual understanding, cooperation, and tolerance towards sports and fitness activity members.

Formation of the aforementioned skills is the primary task of the physical education teacher, as a leader of small social groups. The future physical education teacher should start developing his social interaction competence at the university. We propose a set of organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of the social interaction competence of a future physical education teacher. First, this complex presumes the organization of the university educational process through the use of societal potentials (interaction with sports institutions, organizing scientific conferences, promoting healthy lifestyle among people, establishment of volunteerism and sports events); secondly, the purposeful formation in future physical education teachers of a set of social personal qualities and a system of special requirements and social interaction abilities (by creating a special educational program); thirdly, systemic implementation of social and educational technologies that are geared towards bringing the social interaction competences into the university educational process (at the stage when future physical education teachers master the theoretical knowledge in social disciplines, through elective courses, during the teaching practicum).

Conclusions. The result of purposeful activities to form the social interaction competence of future physical education teachers should be a teacher who is actively arranging social relations between different subjects of sports and fitness activities, creating optimal conditions for comfortable and effective team interaction in general and between individual students, effectively increasing the level of physical development and personal enhancement of the younger generation.
