Introduction. Increasing the level of physical activity is considered an important aspect of optimizing human physical capabilities [1]. The most effective way of physical activation in modern conditions is considered to be practicing one of the sports [2]. Football arouses great interest among modern youth, especially students, as it can satisfy their need for emotionally charged physical activity in their free time from studies. Despite the well-known general positive impact of football training on various indicators, it remains relevant to clarify its effect on the body of students who have been engaged in this sport for a long time.
Aim of the study: to evaluate the impact of three years of football training on the physical development indicators of students.
Methods and organization of the study. From the beginning of their studies, 24 male students were under observation for three years. Initially, they were divided into two comparable groups. Of these, 12 individuals formed the football players group, who began training in a football section strictly for one hour three times a week. They maintained this training regimen for at least until the end of their third year, that is, for three years. Their peers, 12 young men, maintained low physical activity. Both categories underwent standard physical testing at 2-month intervals with constant monitoring of their general condition. The Student's t-test was calculated.
Results of the study and their discussion. Regular football training ensured a gradual increase in speed-strength parameters, an increase in strength capabilities, improved endurance, and better coordination during the first year. Subsequent football training ensured a stable maintenance of the achieved level of physical development for at least two subsequent years. The maintained level of physical capabilities in young football players was significantly higher than that of their non-sporting classmates, who formed the control group.
Conclusions. The spectacle of football training and its emotional appeal are the key to forming a persistent need among students to participate in them over a long period. Regular football training for at least three years contributes to maintaining a high level of physical development parameters in male students, including their speed and strength capabilities, coordination development, and endurance level.
