Introduction. The modern system of physical education in universities requires the introduction of effective and accessible means of developing students' strength abilities. The use of fitness bands, ribbon and pulley expanders allows for a regulated load, accessibility, and versatility of the training process, which is especially important in conditions of limited sports infrastructure [1].
Aim of the study: to evaluate the effect of elastic resistance training on the development of strength abilities in female students during physical education classes.
Methods and organization of the study. The scientific work was conducted at the State Social and Humanities University in Kolomna during the academic year with the participation of 40 female students aged 19-20 years, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental program included twice-a-week classes for 9 months using fitness bands, ribbon and pulley expanders, while the control group trained according to the standard method of athletic gymnastics.
The developed annual strength training program using fitness bands and expanders was based on the principles of progressive resistance, load variability, and the phased formation of motor qualities. The training cycle included six microcycles, each of which provided for a sequential complication of the conditions for performing exercises by increasing the level of resistance, changing the pace, amplitude, and biomechanics of movements. Sequentially in the microcycles, the focus shifted to the development of strength endurance by varying the number of repetitions, the volume of sets, and increasing the resistance of elastic means, which ensured an optimal combination of external load and internal muscular effort. Efficiency control was carried out through strength fitness testing at the beginning and end of each semester, which allowed for methodologically sound management of the training process.
Results of the study and their discussion. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed a significantly more pronounced dynamics of strength indicators in the female students of the experimental group. The time of holding the "wall sit" position in the experimental group (EG) increased by 61% (p<0.01), in the control group (CG) – by 20% (p<0.05); the dynamics in push-ups in the EG was 35% (p<0.01), in the CG – 18% (p<0.05). The indicators of trunk lifts in 60 seconds in the EG improved by 24% (p<0.05), in the CG – by 10% (p>0.05). In the EG, grip strength increased: right hand – by 19% (p<0.05), left hand – by 15% (p<0.05); in the CG, the growth was less pronounced (right hand – by 9%, p>0.05; left hand – by 7%, p>0.05). The obtained data confirm a significantly higher effectiveness of elastic resistance training compared to traditional athletic gymnastics.
Conclusions. The results of the study confirm the high effectiveness of using fitness expanders in the physical education learning process, as they provide a more significant increase in strength abilities and contribute to the comprehensive physical development of female students; the integration of such means into educational programs is a promising direction for improving the quality of physical education in conditions of limited material and technical base.
