Abstract

Objective of the study is to reveal the content of the upbringing potential of modern professional sport, to construct and theoretically substantiate a conceptual model of the upbringing process in professional sport, reflecting the demand of society for a harmonious and socially responsible personality of the athlete. Methods and structure of the study. In the development of the model of the upbringing process, the study relied on well-known sports-pedagogical theories. Results and conclusions. The theoretical substantiation of the model of the upbringing process in professional sport rests on a synthesis of sports-pedagogical theories, the integration of which made it possible to present upbringing as the activity-based and reflexive mastering of the recognised values of sport in an expanded social environment. The criterion of the upbringing level of a professional athlete in the proposed model is the degree of the formation of the value maturity and social responsibility of the personality.
