Abstract

Objective of the study is to systematise, taking into account the stages of athletic preparation, the methods of training the ideomotor representations of the movements of the blades in competitors when choosing and applying combat actions in fencing bouts. Methods and structure of the study. To achieve the aim of the study, the methods of the analysis and synthesis of the data of the scientific and scientific-methodological literature were applied, and the results of the practical application of the proposed methods of training ideomotor representations were also analysed. Results and conclusions. The training of ideomotor representations is an important instrument for increasing the level of the technical-tactical fitness of fencers at each stage, beginning with the stage of initial preparation. The use in the training process of the ‘reconnaissance-action’ method (at the stage of initial preparation), the method of the ‘verbal instruction of the coach’ (at the stage of initial specialisation), and the method of the ‘independent choice and verbal instruction of the athlete’ when choosing the manner of attack and counteraction (at the stage of in-depth specialisation) makes it possible to shorten the time of performing the chosen action not only in single-act bouts, but also in situations of counteracting the intentions of the athlete and completing them in two-act and multi-act bouts of fencing confrontation. At the same time, these methods, when the initiative of the beginning of the bout is transferred from the coach to the athlete, make it possible to accelerate the technical-tactical perfection of fencers through the formation of confidence in the accurate assessment of the ‘read’ information and its use in the realisation of tactical intentions.
