Abstract

Objective of the study is to conduct a critical analysis of the theoretical and experimental articles on the diagnostics, structure, classification and training of coordination abilities, published in the journal ‘Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury’ from 1996 to 2025. Methods and structure of the study. An analysis of the publications of the journal ‘Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury’ for the period 1996-2025 was conducted. Results and conclusions. A steady growth of the number of the analysed works was shown: 30 for 1996-2005, 58 for 2006-2015, 101 for 2016-2025. The most developed directions are: the development of coordination abilities (CA) in ontogenesis, diagnostics, and individual kinds of CA (balance, reaction, rhythm). At the same time, the author notes the methodological shortcomings of the studies: terminological confusion, the unjustified inclusion of flexibility, jumping ability and precision into the composition of CA, the weak evidential base of the reliability and validity of the tests, inaccurate references and descriptions. Thus, the interest in the problem of CA has grown significantly over 30 years, however the quality of a part of the publications requires improvement, above all through correct terminology, the strict verification of the measurement procedures and the reliance on the classical works on the theory of CA.
