Abstract

Objective of the study is to clarify the changes in the physical development of male students at the initial stage of engaging in track and field athletics. Methods and structure of the study. 33 young men aged 18-20, studying in the first or second year of a university, participated in the scientific work. Of them, a control group of 14 people and an experimental group of 19 people were formed, who began daily track-and-field classes lasting from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the current workload. The duration of the study was 9 months. The physical indicators were tracked by testing at the beginning and at the end of the study. All the obtained results were processed by the Student’s t-test. Results and conclusions. Regular track-and-field classes, having a different duration depending on the workload, were accompanied by a reliable positive dynamics of strength, speed, endurance and coordination. The track-and-field athletes noted a weakening of the feeling of fatigue after physical loads and an increase in the clarity of the performed movements.
