Abstract

Objective of the study is to identify the theoretical-methodological foundations and the criterial apparatus for defining scientific-pedagogical schools in the field of sports pedagogy, making it possible to objectively verify their status and to assess their contribution to the development of university science and practice. Methods and structure of the study. The Scopus, eLibrary.ru and Google Scholar databases were used. As a result of the search, more than forty literary sources were analysed, of which 11 most relevant articles in scientific journals and collections of scientific works on the topic of the study were selected. Results and conclusions. The article examines the concept of the ‘scientific-pedagogical school’ as a community of scholars of different statuses and specialisations coordinating their research activity under the leadership of a leader. It is shown that the emergence and progressive development of scientific schools depends on objective and subjective factors, which should be taken into account in the process of the legal regulation of their activity. The problems of the creation and the directions of perfecting the activity of scientific schools in the field of sports pedagogy are brought up for discussion.
