Abstract

Objective of the study is to identify the socio-demographic and organisational factors of students’ mastery of swimming competencies that reduce the risk of accidents. Methods and structure of the study. A survey was conducted of 125 students of a management university of all years of study: 57 (47.7%) female and 68 (52.3%) male. The study was carried out using a cross-sectional design with a questionnaire including questions related to socio-demographic data, organisational factors and the level of swimming competencies. Results and conclusions. Students who mastered swimming skills before studying at university possess better competencies related to safety on the water. Senior-year students are to a greater degree proficient in the skills of sport and applied swimming. The priority in the field of safety at water bodies is the formation of skills in performing applied techniques and actions.
