The role of aesthetic training in university education of future rhythmic gymnastics coaches in China

Abstract
Objective of the study is to scientifically substantiate and develop a methodology of aesthetic training of female students specialising in rhythmic gymnastics, aimed at improving creative abilities, artistry, expressiveness and plasticity for their subsequent realisation in the training process of athletes. Methods and structure of the study. The development and implementation of a supplementary education programme on aesthetic training for students of China was carried out, taking into account the features of Chinese aesthetics, mentality and the system of training rhythmic gymnastics specialists at Wuhan University. 30 third-year female students took part in the experiment: 15 – the experimental group (EG), which trained according to the developed aesthetic training programme within the framework of supplementary professional education, and 15 – the control group (CG), which studied according to the university’s work programme. Results and conclusions. The implementation of the programme made it possible to obtain a significant increase in results among the female students of the experimental group across all test tasks concerning the ability to realise theoretical data and practical skills in composing and expressively performing routines without an apparatus and with apparatuses in various musical stylisations, creating and demonstrating competitive programmes in such indicators as expressiveness, plasticity, range of movements (flexibility). The programme developed and introduced into the educational process also increased the aesthetic competence of the control group students in the theoretical sections.
