Abstract
Objective of the study is to examine the dynamics of the structure of value orientations among students – future coaches at the initial and final stages of professional training. Methods and structure of the study. The respondents were students – future coaches in their first and senior years of study at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. To investigate the value orientations of students – future coaches, the 'Free Choice of Values' technique (E.B. Fantalova) was applied, which makes it possible to assess various life values according to the criteria of importance (how significant the value is) and attainability. The factor structure of value orientations was determined using factor analysis (Vari max method) with Kaiser normalisation. Results and conclusions. The study made it possible to identify significant changes in the factor structure of value orientations among students – future coaches between the initial and final stages of professional training. It has been established that at the initial stage of professional training the factor 'Importance of life values' is dominant, whereas at the final stage of professional training the factor 'Attainability of life values' comes to the fore, which may indicate a transition from an idealistic perception of life values to a realistic assessment of the possibilities of achieving them. Changes also occur in the content of the factors themselves: a shift in value orientations from individually hedonistic to socially significant and professional by the end of professional training. The results obtained can be used for the psychological and pedagogical support of the training of future coaches and for improving the system of their professional education.
