Objective of the study is to examine the sports team as a space for the holistic development of the athlete’s personality, encompassing physical, psychological, social and spiritual characteristics.
Methods and structure of the study. This research is theoretical and methodological in nature and is based on an anthropological approach. It utilised methods of analysing the scientific literature on the research topic, with particular attention paid to the conditions for harmonising personal and team development.
Results and conclusions. It has been established that a sports team functions as a multidimensional developmental environment that satisfies the individual’s basic needs: for belonging, self-actualisation, recognition, communication and development. It has been shown that the team contributes to the athlete’s self-actualisation, whilst individual growth strengthens the collective. Anthropological factors of team building and pedagogical conditions for harmonious development have been identified: personalisation, democratisation of management, a developmental environment, and psychological support. A model of psychological and pedagogical support has been presented, comprising diagnostic, developmental, corrective, preventive and monitoring components. Techniques for holistic personal development are substantiated: integrative and reflective learning, project-based activities, and mentoring. Criteria for assessing development across four aspects – physical, mental, social and spiritual – are proposed. The results obtained can be applied in team preparation, the formulation of coaching strategies and the development of personal development programmes in sport.

Keywords: anthropological approach, holistic personal development, sports team, individual and collective development, self-actualisation, need for belonging.
