Objective of the study is to experimentally demonstrate the impact of using smartwatches and a mobile app on students’ endurance and speed performance during physical education.
Methods and structure of the study. The study involved 100 university students aged between 18 and 22, in their first to third years of study and eligible to participate in physical education classes within a special medical group. The students were divided into an experimental and a control group, each comprising fifty participants. The formative stage involved an 8-week (2-month) educational experiment, during which the experimental group used smartwatches and a mobile app to monitor physical activity, whilst the control group followed a traditional physical education programme without the use of digital devices.
Results and conclusions. A comprehensive analysis of the experimental study’s results led to the conclusion that the use of smartwatches and a mobile app has a multifaceted positive impact on students’ physical fitness. The most pronounced effect was observed in indicators of aerobic endurance; functional indicators of the cardiovascular system; and resistance to physical exertion. Monitoring of exercise intensity, visualisation of progress and regular feedback contributed to the development of a more rational exercise regime among students in the experimental group.
