Scientific schools in the field of physical education and sport as drivers of innovative research in the context of modern challenges

Objective of the study is to highlight the role and significance of the development of scientific schools in the field of physical culture and sport as drivers of innovative research in the context of modern challenges.
Methods and structure of the study. The study included an analytical review and systematisation of research areas carried out under the guidance of renowned Russian scientist Professor L.I. Lubysheva, founder of a scientific and pedagogical school based on a sports-oriented approach to physical education for the younger generation.
Results and conclusions. It is shown that the key scientific areas of Professor L.I. Lubysheva's research activity are related to the development of the methodology, theory and practice of innovative transformation of the national system of physical culture and sports education for children, adolescents and young people. Within the framework of these areas, 36 candidate and 16 doctoral dissertations have been defended under the guidance of the scientist. A summary of the scientific school's experience has demonstrated its relevance and productivity not only in the creation and transmission of scientific knowledge, but also in overcoming the difficulties associated with generational change and improving the training of highly qualified specialists who possess methodological culture and research competence and are capable of solving industry-specific scientific problems.
