Objective of the study is to analyse a sports team as a unique subcultural community with its own system of norms, symbols, traditions and values; to identify the mechanisms of formation and transmission of team culture; to substantiate technologies for the purposeful formation of team identity through cultural practices.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was conducted within the framework of a cultural studies approach using methods of analysis of scientific literature on the research problem. Particular attention is paid to the description of the structural components of team subculture and the systematisation of the mechanisms of its transmission.
Results and conclusions. It has been established that a sports team functions as a sociocultural system with the characteristics of a subculture: relative autonomy, intensity of cultural influence, dynamism, and symbolic richness. The main components of team culture are identified: material artefacts, behavioural norms, value-semantic foundations, and symbolic-communicative practices. The key mechanisms of cultural transmission are substantiated: initiation, mentoring, collective memory, and ritual actions that ensure the reproduction and development of team identity.
