Objective of the study is to develop and experimentally substantiate a comprehensive methodology for developing psychophysiological abilities to improve the reliability of performing dynamic elements with rotation in artistic gymnastics.
Methods and structure of the study. 20 gymnasts aged 12-13 participated in a 4-month pedagogical experiment. Methods of psychophysiological testing, video analysis of competitive elements and statistical data processing were used.
Results and conclusions. Strong correlations (r=0.78–0.80, p≤0.01) were found between the reliability of performing elements and indicators of information processing speed, visual-motor reaction, and reaction to a moving object. Significant improvements were recorded in the experimental group: information processing speed increased by 15.2%, visual-motor reaction time decreased by 19.3%, and reliability of element execution improved by 18.9%. The developed methodology has proven its effectiveness and can be recommended for implementation in the training process of gymnasts at the stage of improving their athletic skills.
Keywords: artistic gymnastics, psychophysiological abilities, reliability of execution, dynamic elements with rotation.
