Physical development of students engaged in swimming

Objective of the study is to assess the impact of regular swimming on the physical development of students.
Methods and structure of the study. 32 male students (aged 18-20) who had not previously engaged in regular physical activity took part in the study. The students were divided into two groups: an experimental group (n=17), which began attending the swimming pool three times a week, and a control group (n=15), which led a sedentary lifestyle. The physical condition of both groups was assessed at the beginning and end of the 10-month study period using standard tests (measurement of heart rate, blood pressure, endurance and respiratory function tests). Statistical processing of the results was performed using Student's t-test.
Results and conclusions. Regular swimming classes contributed to a significant improvement in cardiovascular and respiratory system performance, increased overall endurance and physical activity among students. The swimming group showed a decrease in resting heart rate, a reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and an increase in vital lung capacity and endurance. No significant changes were recorded in the control group. Systematic swimming lessons strengthen students' cardiorespiratory systems and improve the body's functional capabilities.
