Objective of the study is to assess the lean body mass (LBM) balance by segments in biathletes of different ages.
Methods and structure of the study. 44 athletes (25 young men and 19 young women) participated in the study. The method used was bioimpedance analysis (InBody 270 analyser). The analysis was conducted taking into account gender and age groups according to T.A. Poghosyan's classification.
Results and conclusions. Data are presented to identify imbalances in muscle mass development between body segments. The study revealed a high frequency of lean body mass (LBM) imbalance in young biathletes, most pronounced in the right/left arm segment. The main reasons are modern biathlon technique, functional asymmetry, and the consequences of injuries. The authors emphasise the importance of regular monitoring of LBM using bioimpedance analysis (InBody) for timely prevention and correction of imbalances.
