The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the modular technology of technical training for young Greco-Roman wrestlers based on coupled mobile games in the training process.
Research methodology and organization. The study developed and tested a modular technology based on paired mobile games. The relevance of this approach is due to changes in the 2022 sports training standard, which includes reducing the age of enrollment in initial training groups to 7 years and prohibiting sparring, duels, and any forms of direct contact interaction until the age of 9 [1, 2]. This necessitated the search for alternative methods that can develop technical skills without direct confrontation.
Conjugated mobile games with wrestling elements allow not only to practice techniques, but also to develop young athletes’ ability to “read” the opponent’s actions, to react quickly and to overcome physical discomfort – key qualities for future competitions.
The technology includes three consecutive modules:
“Physical contact” (3 months, 10–15 min at the beginning of the lesson) – games on touch and close contact. Objective: to remove fear and embarrassment before physical interaction.
"Technical Actions" (3 months, 15-20 minutes) - games using the techniques that have been mastered. The goal is to consolidate the technique in a playful and dynamic manner.
"Simulation of Competitive Activities" (3 months, 15-20 minutes in the main part of the lesson) - contact games that are as close to real matches as possible. The goal is to prepare for competitions.
The test was conducted at the Sports School No. 1 in Surgut. Participants: 40 first-year young wrestlers (control group – CG, 20 people; experimental group – EG, 20 people).
Research results and their discussion. According to the results of the experiment, the EG showed a significant increase in technical preparedness indicators (according to expert assessment):
– In statics:
standing and movement – +2.11 points (+28.9%);
low ground and advancements – +2.59 (+33.37%);
grip by the wrist – +3.03 (+38.99%);
Side grip by the wrist and elbow – +2.80 (+35.66%).
– In dynamics:
standing and moving – +2.92 (+41.41%);
low ground – +2.34 (+32.05%);
grip by the wrist – +3.35 (+46.33%);
side grip – +3.23 (+45.62%).
In the control group, the increase in performance was significantly lower. The young wrestlers in the experimental group performed the elements confidently, without prompts, demonstrated an understanding of the combinations, and showed high engagement and motivation for training.
Conclusions. The modular technology based on coupled mobile games has proven to be highly effective in the technical training of young Greco-Roman wrestlers. Compared to traditional methods, it has not only significantly improved technical performance, but also positively affected the physical and psychological readiness of athletes. This approach is particularly relevant in the context of restrictions on contact interactions for children under the age of 9, allowing for the safe and effective development of basic wrestling skills.
