Objective of the study is to assess the impact of dance exercise choreography on the development of physical qualities of 10-11 year old girls.
Methods and structure of the study. The study took place from September 2024 to May 2025, based on the Municipal General Education Institution of the Irkutsk District Municipal Formation (MOU IRMO) "Pivovarovskaya Secondary School". An experimental (n=25) and a control (n=25) group were organized. Classes in groups were held twice a week for 60 minutes as part of extracurricular activities in school sections. In the experimental group, schoolgirls were engaged in choreography, in the control group – general physical training.
Results and conclusions. The main motive that encourages 10-11 year old students to engage in physical exercise has been established – the desire to be strong and beautiful (67%). At the beginning of the study, a low level of flexibility and coordination was revealed in 10-11 year old girls living in rural areas. Choreography classes are an effective means of increasing the level of physical fitness of schoolgirls (p<0.05 – p<0.01). A special selection of dance exercises allowed the girls to feel muscular pleasure, joy from performing motor actions and awakened the desire to continue systematic classes in this type of physical exercise.
