Objective of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the socio-demographic characteristics of sports volunteers.
Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work is based on a comprehensive analysis of official statistics and the results of empirical studies reflecting the practice of training and attracting volunteers in the organization of sports events in Russia in the period 2013-2018. The main data set was the official materials of the organizing committees of sports events, containing information on the number of volunteers and their socio-demographic composition. An additional empirical base was the statistical data of the reports of volunteer centers based at Russian universities that took part in the formation of the volunteer personnel reserve for sports events.
Results and conclusions. The analysis of the collected data allows us to identify stable characteristics of the socio-demographic portrait of sports volunteers. The age structure of sports volunteers is dominated by representatives of the younger generation: the largest share of participants falls on the age group of 18-25 years. The analysis of the gender composition reveals a significant predominance of women among the volunteers of the sporting event. In terms of educational level, people with higher or incomplete higher education predominate.
