Objective of the study to determine changes in morphofunctional parameters of the heart of freshmen students regularly practicing judo.
Methods and structure of the study. This study observed 14 male students who trained in judo three times a week during their first year of university. The control consisted of 15 clinically healthy student peers who avoided physical training. At the end of the first year of university, ultrasound evaluation of cardiac parameters was performed on all observed subjects. The results were processed by Student's t-criterion.
Results and conclusions. A tendency to left ventricular muscle thickening was found in those who attended judo sections during the first year of university, which was accompanied by an increase in its mass. External dimensions of the left ventricle and its capacity in judoists were normal. They were characterized by a slightly higher myocardial relaxation rate than controls. Training in the judo section provided students during the first year of training with myocardial development while maintaining normal left ventricular capacity and optimum of its contraction capacity.
