Objective of the study is to develop an express test that does not require the use of maximum physical activity and has a scale for assessing physical performance, the period of which does not exceed one year.
Methods and structure of the study. The theoretical basis for the possibility of developing the test is based on the following provisions: 1) the higher the physical performance of a person, the lower the heart rate, both at rest and during muscle activity. The age-related rate of decrease in maximum heart rate (HR) is also known, which from the age of 18 to 50 years linearly decreases by 0.7 beats per year; 2) in the HR range from 90 to 180 bpm, there is a direct relationship between the increase in HR, oxygen consumption and the accumulation of lactic acid in the blood; 3) in many types of activity, performance is determined by the level of maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), which is a criterion of aerobic endurance. An increase in the VO2 max level is accompanied by a decrease in heart rate, both at rest and during muscle activity. Based on their provisions, a mathematical formula was developed that reflects changes in heart rate during non-maximum running load and allows these changes to be correlated with a person's age.
Results and conclusions. As a result of the work done, two coefficients were calculated linking the subject's age with a dosed non-maximum load. An experimental check of express testing of the level of physical performance with the participation of men (n=16) and women (n=15) aged 20 to 65 years showed a close relationship between the correlating features r=0.86, with a significance level of 0.05. During testing, running on a stadium track (arena) was used. Distances of 300, 400 and 500 m were covered in a given time – 123 seconds. The scale for assessing a person's physical performance is presented as a period of one year.

Keywords: human physical performance, heart rate, running test, rate of age-related decline in maximum oxygen consumption.
