Objective of the study is to experimentally substantiate methodological techniques that help overcome hydrophobia in students of a management university.
Methods and structure of the study. The sample of the scientific work included 65 students of a management university aged 19.5±0.7 years who did not have swimming skills. To measure the level of hydrophobia, a questionnaire of fear factors adapted to the process of learning to swim and including 10 questions was used. Basic swimming skills were taught for six weeks, three 60-minute lessons per week.
Results and conclusions. Basic swimming skills training leads to the effect of reducing the level of hydrophobia. The formation of mental qualities of students, endurance and self-control when in the water is possible using pedagogical means of teaching basic swimming skills, expanding the practical scope of their application in the aquatic environment.

Keywords: swimming training, students, management university, hydrophobia factors.
