Objective of the study is to systematize the studies of domestic specialists in the development, control of physical capabilities and their assessment in the selection process.
Methods and structure of the study. A review of texts from books and online resources was conducted, systematization of the collected content, including expert presentations at scientific forums on the topic of sports training and functional-morphological analysis.
Results and conclusions. In this paper, the authors propose a scheme for conducting research aimed at assessing the effectiveness of various components of sports training. The key elements of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary system of scientific research in the field of sports, successfully implemented by Russian researchers and leading to significant achievements, are considered.
