Objective of the study is to identify publication activity in the field of orienteering and sports tourism based on a quantitative and qualitative assessment of scientific articles on these sports published in the journal «Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury».
Methods and structure of the study. A content analysis of articles on orienteering and sports tourism presented in the journal «Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury» from 1959 to 2024 was conducted and their thematic focus was determined. Publications presented on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.ru (www.elibrary.ru) and in reviews of scientific literature [2, 3] were studied. The following criteria were used for the search: 1) topic; 2) type of publication; 3) quantitative parameters of the article; 4) year of publication. The total number of scientific articles analyzed was 86 on orienteering and 42 on sports tourism.
Results and conclusions. The number of publications on orienteering and sports tourism has been determined, their dynamics for the period from 1959 to 2024 have been established, and the thematic focus of scientific articles in these sports has been revealed. In the structure of publications, the largest number of works are devoted to the problems of managing the training process of highly qualified athletes, the basics of preparing a sports reserve, and the specifics of using sports tourism and orienteering tools in the educational process of university students. Some studies covered issues of ski orienteering, technical, tactical, and intellectual preparedness of athletes, and the development of innovative devices and equipment. A few articles are related to the training of coaching personnel and passing tourism standards in the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex GTO. The analysis of the obtained data allowed us to conclude that publications on the issues of orienteering and sports tourism in the journal "TiPFK" determine promising areas of research in these sports, contribute to increasing the professionalism and competence of coaches, and are a timely narrative for building the publishing policy of the journal.
