Introduction. In the current conditions of multipolarity, in many countries of the global community, a healthy lifestyle has recently been actively promoted and demonstrated as an indicator of a state's national security. In fact, a healthy lifestyle for citizens is a new formula for national security, contributing to the defense of borders and the creation of an army capable of defending against enemy attacks [1]. A healthy lifestyle is essentially a fortress that ensures the country's independence, autonomy, and sovereignty.
The purpose of the study is to identify indicators of a healthy lifestyle as a factor of national security in a multipolar world.
Methodology and organization of the study. A research work was carried out, which covered 1268 respondents aged from 18 to 65 years, of which 52% were women and 48% were men, and was conducted in major cities of the Irkutsk region.
The results of the study and their discussion. In 2024, the All-Russian Center for the Evaluation of Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM) published data from a survey on the healthy lifestyle of our compatriots, which confirms the priority and value of a healthy lifestyle. Since 2012, self-assessment of health has been holding a stable bar. 33% of respondents rate their health as "good", almost half of 49% as "satisfactory", and 16% of respondents rate their health as "weak". The assessment of the quality of health decreases with age [2].
The study showed that 58% of respondents consider themselves to be adhering to a healthy lifestyle, while 38% consider its level to be “weak”, 50% “satisfactory” and 12% “strong”. 13% of respondents have disabilities, 9% have serious illnesses. According to gender, 9% of men consider themselves to be strong, while only 6% of women do so. About 22% of respondents under the age of 30 consider themselves to be healthy, while 11% of residents of large cities do so and 17% of residents of small cities do so. When considering respondents based on their income level, only 14% of residents of low-income regions consider themselves to be healthy. Respondents aged 50 to 65 (17%) and unemployed (15%) identified themselves as frequently ill. Citizens' health and well-being can be linked to their level of anxiety, stress, nutrition, income, lifestyle, and a number of other indicators. Therefore, in addition to the general self-assessment of health, the study included the identification of such groups of Russians who over the past year have faced serious lifestyle changes that can lead to positive or negative shifts in their health status. 54% of respondents said they have experienced high levels of anxiety and stress over the past year. This indicator was noted to the greatest extent by women from 30 to 50 years old, with higher education and high income. 34% of respondents in 2024 began to adhere to a healthy diet and lifestyle. 41% of women and 21% of men are also in priority. 26% of respondents began to exercise regularly, most of them are young working citizens with higher education and middle and high income, and in the category of "youth" 57% of respondents actively engage in sports.
Conclusions. A healthy lifestyle is one of the important indicators of the state's national security, which requires support from government agencies to provide sports centers and facilities for physical culture and sports.
