Objective of the study is to assess the physical functioning and quality of life of older citizens based on monitoring results.
Methods and structure of the study. The testing was conducted in accordance with the terms of reference of the research project related to the topic under consideration, and included: analysis of regulatory legal acts related to the problem of active longevity; monitoring of the physical condition and quality of life of the elderly (from 60 to 78 years) in order to identify the main methods contributing to the formation of interest in regular physical education (FC) classes and motivation for active longevity. To assess the physical condition, a series of tests was used, including measurements of walking speed, balance, and a test for getting up from a chair (short physical Performance Battery, SPPB). The quality of life was assessed using the SF-36 Health Status Survey questionnaire.
Results and conclusions. The test results confirm that physical education is an effective way to improve physical health and improve the quality of life of the elderly. Those who practice have improved walking speed, balance and strength of the lower extremities, as well as a reduced risk of developing senile asthenia. They also note greater ease in performing daily tasks and a higher subjective assessment of their health. In this regard, it is necessary to actively implement adaptive physical education programs that take into account age characteristics and health limitations in order to motivate older people to active longevity. Special attention should be paid to the age groups of 65-69 and 70-74 years, where there is the greatest need to improve physical condition and quality of life.
