Objective of the study determine the optimal ratio of mental performance indicators of 1st year students with the structure and intensity of motor activity in different periods of the academic year.
Methods and structure of the study. The study, conducted on the basis of the Sibgau named after M.F. Reshetnev, was aimed at studying the impact of sports on the mental performance of students. The experiment involved 40 first-year students, divided into control (non-athletes) and experimental (athletes) groups. Mental performance was assessed using the Bourdon-Anfimov proof-reading test.
Results and conclusions. Physically active students are better able to cope with tasks that require sustained attention and concentration. This is probably due to improved blood supply to the brain, metabolism, and the production of substances that support its plasticity. On the contrary, lack of movement negatively affects cognitive functions, leading to decreased accuracy and concentration, as well as fatigue and loss of interest in learning. Therefore, the inclusion of physical exercises in the learning process can help students improve their mental performance and avoid overwork.
