Objective of the study is aimed at a comparative analysis of training load planning models used by highly qualified triathletes from Russia and foreign countries within the framework of a one-year training cycle.
Methods and structure of the study. Methods of modeling, analysis of planning documents, competition protocols and mathematical statistics are used in the work. The model characteristics of the average speed of overcoming the race were compiled based on the protocols of 1,363 participants in major international competitions and the Olympic Games.
Results and conclusions. A study of training distribution strategies has shown the need to improve the running area (with an "intense" load level and higher). When organizing repetitive training loads as part of an annual training cycle, their volume may exceed the standard norms, but the load distribution according to the degree of complexity must meet established standards using either a polarizing or a pyramidal structure.

Keywords: triathlon, highly qualified athletes, planning, training loads, annual cycle.
