Objective of the study is aimed at analyzing and discussing possible directions for the development of modern Russian social philosophy and science of physical culture and sports (FKiS), starting in the 1990s, when the influence of "Eurocentrism" and "Westernization" on the domestic information space increased once again.
Methods and structure of the study. The research is based on a consistent comparison of established and new scientific approaches in philosophy, social and cultural anthropology, history, political economy, political science, sociology, psychology and pedagogy of the FKiS.
Results and conclusions. The results show that the traditional Russian philosophy of FKiS and the social sciences of FKiS mostly maintain a conservative approach, do not show readiness and adaptability to the transition of Russian society to the principles of capitalist development (the assessment of this transition is not considered), to the increased information impact from European and American scientific, educational and cultural models, to the situation of acute (including military) confrontation of Russia in the international arena, as well as a change in the role and social significance of high‑performance sports and the Olympic movement in the current conditions. The inevitability and objectivity of the historical process require an immediate and significant transformation of the philosophy and social sciences of the FKiS in order to adequately understand and highlight modern socio‑cultural challenges.
