Objective of the study is to identify the optimal way to hold the drone controller sticks, as well as to develop a set of exercises to improve piloting skills.
Methods and structure of the study. The pilots operating the drones identified small hand muscles involved in the process of controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The most common and effective way of holding the controller and manipulating the joysticks when piloting a UAV was identified. Exercises aimed at improving the fine motor skills of the hands were selected. The experiment involved students of the first and second years of study at the Ulyanovsk Institute of Civil Aviation. Methods such as a sociological survey, questionnaires, data analysis and synthesis, as well as a competitive approach were used.
Results and conclusions. The muscles of the hands involved to a greater extent in the control of the BVS on the remote control sticks were identified: the middle group of hand muscles, the posterior group of muscles (surface and deep layer), the anterior group of muscles (deep layer), the muscles of the thumb elevation. It was determined that pinching the sticks of the remote control gives more precise control, and the effect of only the thumbs is faster. The method of pinching sticks is used by 70% of the cadets. The use of specially developed sets of exercises in the training sessions allowed the team consisting of cadets of the experimental group to successfully compete in competitions on the management skills of the UAV.
