Objective of the study is to study the peculiarities of the influence of the age factor on the manifestation of speed and strength qualities in the run–up phase of long jumpers.
Methods and structure of the study. The study involved 35 young people specializing in long jump, who were divided into two age groups: 15.5±0.6 years and 18.4±0.6 years. Using regression analysis methods, a measure of the dependence of the performance of the long jump (as a criterion variable) on a set of predictors, including parameters of speed and strength training, elasticity of muscles and ligaments, total and explosive strength, as well as speed in short‑distance running, was established.
Research results and conclusions. With increasing age, the effect of sprinting abilities on the range of the long jump becomes more pronounced due to a complex of biological changes. Predicting the results of the long jump in athletes of different age groups can be successfully implemented by analyzing tests that evaluate the explosive strength of the leg muscles.
